Simple, economical enclosure for smaller tortoises!!

If you can devote a 4 sq. ft. area for your little tortoise.. this may work for you! My leos like it!

A 4' plastic wading pool.. 1"x4" board with vinyl siding stapled to it.. with removable lid. I also mount a light fixture on a 1x4 that lays nicely on other side of pool. Same thing for "heat emitter" in "humid-hide".. for redfoots!

Maybe this will help.. and it gives little tortoises some room to "stretch-their-legs"!!

You gotta love 'em!

no offend but heat and thin plastic don't mix, unless you use low heat source, one way to avoid this is reinforce the basking or any hot spots (UVB or ceramic heat bulbs) with the hard stuffs, we are curently experiment with some cheap (stone) floor tiles, they make beautifull wall, floor and ceiling for your tort both in-or outdoor especially for the little ones and cleaning is child play and very, very portable and convertable...still, we like to save these for rainy days...thanks for sharing and please let your torts enjoy their summer outdoor while it last

You are absolutely right.. I would certainly hope no one puts enough heat to melt vinyl near their young/small tortoises!! I was hoping this would encourage.. getting away from SMALL glass enclosures.. simply a model!!

Speaking of rainy days.. my redfoots have certainly enjoyed the overabundance here in East TN!!

You gotta love 'em!
