Feeding

snkeyes Aug 23, 2004 08:50 AM

quick question.

I have 3 fem. leos in a 40 gal setup. I got them friday night and by sunday 2 were cruising all over the place and one kind of does but she could still be a tad nervous. Well saturday night I put 9 meal worms in the dish and 1 gecko ate them all. So I put 4 in front of the other 2 and they ate. Last night the same thing happened, so I took the other 2 out and fed them seperatly and they ate. THEN, about a half hour later the 2 were all over the food dish looking and the third one was back under the heat as always.

Should I always feed seperate?

How much do I feed them. Should I put 10 meal worms per gecko in the dish..they seemed awful hungry?

Oh they are juvies..about 4-6 inches long

Thanks

If they are still juvies, i recommend feeding them more crix than meallies, wich have more chitin. Newly shed meallies are also good. Also feed waxworms as a treat, and other feeders.

It's good that you're making sure they all get to eat. I would go with leaving 10 mealworms per gecko in the dish plus an extra 5-10 since babies can be real hogs.

Thanks guys. I think I will throw 45 - 50 meal worms in their tonight and maybe even split them up in different dishes and put on at a different location to see how it works out
