Olympics of animals

xelabou Aug 23, 2004 09:13 AM

I finally saw that BBC-Discovery 30 minutes "Olympics for Animals" translated in french: "Les Olympiques des animaux".

I just taped it o VHS when I saw that collared lizard was in the starting line for the 100M. So I missed the beginning and cut off some ads and parts.

If someone is really interresed, I may numerize it and mail it on demand.

Collared one seemed really happy to represent the winning herptiles.

BTW, at what age Crotaphytus begin to smile ?
As for Sara, she now keep her mouth wide open open while basking. Does silkworm feeding may be the cause ?

Another show that had a aquaflame male was on Jeff Corwin Experience Monster Giants or something like that. I don't need a copy though.
About the Collareds,
They open their mouth to absorb the heat. I guess you can say when they are at full bask. Silkworms should not cause that.

Like a dog panting, thats how they cool themselves, by opening their mouth. They can move also if too hot, but that is quite normal, and does look like Smiling !

The only way that it would not be normal, if you ever see them with their mouths open, no matter where they were , and continued to leave it open. Then it would be signs of respiratory problems.

What you are explaining is fine!

Is it a good idea to use "gaping" against her ? I mean, I could put a blueberry or rasberry directly in her mouth when she like this. She always refused to taste fruits.

Does giving her ONE field fruit this way can cause troubles ?

Force feeding is used as a last resort, for a very sick or wc animal who is refusing food, and is a measure to keep them alive.
It is also a very stressful thing for them.

Something you do not want to do, when your female is eating and healthy!

Never force things like fruit into her mouth, if she wants it she will eat it. They are not really fruit or veggie eaters.

Some will nibble on greens, I have some who will nibble shredded carrots, but some who NEVER bother.

They are BUG eaters!

She is a PRETTY thing, I liked her pic
