This is soooo..cool!

Linda G Aug 23, 2004 11:31 AM

I posted earlier about my ig bobbing for the first time.

This morning, I thought I would be foolish and bobbed gently
at him. He bobbed back at me. It was a slow up and down.

Did I make him mad? It is funny but I actually think I
communicated with him in terms that he understands. Is
this something that I shouldn't do? or is it OK?

I think this is cool because my older ig is female and never
bobbs.

Boris headbobs at everything. With him it seems like it is more of a greeting than aggression or showing dominance. He headbobs when I walk in the room or anyone else, but he loves attention and likes our company. I'll nod back to him and he doesn't seem to bother or aggrivate him at all. I don't know exactly what I am saying to him, but he seems to agree because he bobs back. I don't think it's a bad thing to bob at them as long as they don't seem annoyed.

If anyone's ever read anything on Iguana's and social interactions they'd know that Iguana's have a range of different head bobs and they all mean something different. Usually rapid head bobs are agitated and agressive... slow head bobs are greetings of recognition or letting you (as he sees you as a really big Iguana...and kinda funny looking too) know he/she is there. Its actually fascinating how much a simple head bob can communicate between individuals.

When my beardies bob slowly, it's a mating thing. Unless it's different w/Ig's, I'd say he was flirting w/you.
