Terry,
This snake and the one pictured above are both beautiful.
Is this one a male?
I don't know if I am imagining things or if there might be a slight trend here.
It seems that as I see more and more bairdis the males tend to be a little lighter with more yellow and the females a little darker with more bronze.
Is this just my imagination, just my bairdis or a possible trend?

Whenever I see those pics I have a hard time understanding why they took so long to catch on. You've sure got a choice colony. I can't wait to here about your breeding success. Just beautiful...
Hi Mark -
Thanks for the comments. It amazes me that a snake which basically inhabits rocky areas and feeds on crevice lizards should have such a complex color scheme. I don't know why it needs to make such a radical pattern and color transition, but they do. I guess it is for defense as a hachling and camoflouge (sp) as an adult so it can ambush its prey. I will have a nice pair of hatchlings for you to replace the glades.
