chamsrcool Aug 23, 2004 03:14 PM

ok its time for me to go back to school ugh.

i wont be with my veiled alday like i have during the hot days....so tomorrow its supposed to reach mid 80s. where should i put him. usually i have him in full sun but i put a cold towel around part of it so he has some shade...the problem is on hot days it drys out fairly quickly. so
what temp is it ok to have a veil cage in full sun?
what temp should i put the towel on for shade?
what temp should i have the cage in full shade?

Also there is a spot in my yard where he will get shade from about 1 to 4 which is where im thinking about putting his cage.

I'd say that spot from 1-4 would be fine. With a good plant you veiled could be in direct sun all day with no ill effects; when he needs shade he can take cover. But that spot would probably be best.

I agree. Remember, a wild cham would have the option to seek shade once they are warmed up or get too hot regardless of the actual outside temp. In a cage they just don't have that option. Chams bask mostly in the morning, so morning sun is best. Midday to afternoon shade would be safest. Even in an indoor cage they have the option to climb down away from the UV and heat spots anyway.
