Axanthic Blonde Trans-Pecos

kismet Aug 23, 2004 03:29 PM

I have a trans-pecos rat snake that is light, silvery grey with slightly darker grey saddles -- no black at all. Is this considered an axanthic blonde? I have a male and am trying to find a female, but have had no luck. I thought South Mountain Reptiles would be my best bet, but they don't have any. Does anybody here have any suggestions on which breeders I might try? What would happen if I mated him with a regular blonde trans-pecos?

Also, I know humidity is a critical issue. The floor of Mahtab's cage usually has a humidity reading of around 50%. Is that OK? He's very active and you couldn't wish for a more calm, sweet snake, but just wanted to check. Took him to the vet this weekend and he got a clean bill of health (also got oohs and aahs from all the staff -- I was so proud!).

Thanks in advance,

Trans-Pecos like it DRY! I only fill water bowl once a week for 1 day only. My substrate is silica sand. I am working with Blond, Silver and Albino. Where did your silver originate? I will try to answer your axenthic question in next post.
