my boyfriend has my kingsnake, and was telling me today how he'd gotten a sprig of eucalyptus from the market that he wants to put in the cage for some color and to make it smell nice....I'm not sure, I know eucalyptus has a lot of oils in it and I don't know whether it is safe or not so I told him to wait on that idea until I could ask.... anybody know whether it is safe for snakes or not? (I think it's probably a dried sprig, but not sure)

I definitely wouldn't do it. A lot more harm than good could come out of it. The eucalyptus oils could at the very least cause skin irratations, etc. How about something else for color? Odor can be controlled by regular spot cleaning of the substrate, and occasional (I do every 2 weeks) full cleaning and disinfecting of the enclosure.

I wouldnt put anything foreign in the cage. Any plants or soils from other countries can pose a threat to other wildlife. I would just add fake plants for color, they are safe and easy to care for.

thanks guys, that was pretty much what I was thinking....but still hoping someone can provide me something concrete for evidence either way
