That is a nice pic. We used to have smooth greens on our property in n. MI. I could always count on seeing a few every summer, but I haven't seen one in over two yrs. here now. Maybe it's because we've cut a lot of the weeds and turned the meadows into more of a grassy area. It might also be because milk snakes are more prevalent on our property.

We live right on the edge of the wooded area-with lots of ferns-I understand they really like that kind of area-then it opens into small yards with lots of viney plants (okay I like the flowers )
Lots of grasshoppers, moths, caterpillars and other things they like to eat.
I can never find them - if I look for them - but they appear a few times a year-either on the road or in the potted plants. Guess it's all the spiders - I've seen them chasing down wolf spiders - it's very cool to watch!!
