What kind of of turtle is this

The turtle in the photo is known as the three-striped box or the golden coin turtle, Cuora trifasciata. It is native to SE Asia (China, Vietnam, Laos). It was once somewhat common in the pet trade, but it is now rare to see them for sale and they are expensive when they are (>$1000)b/c they are the prime ingredient in traditional chinese medicine "cures" for cancer.

Ha ha thats funny i guess your friend was taking pics at the zoo again. Just think u could of had a $1,000 turtle thats not suppose to be in the wild there anyhow.
