Great Mixture.... Substrate.

since people here some to love Cypress Mulch for your tegus, i thought i would let you know of a mixture im using in my water monitor tanks at my store.
it is just plain cypress mulch mixed with that block stuff you soak and it expands. when mixed it still looks good, and with the dirt from the blocks the cypress mulch can hold a burrow much better. im having a brain fart right now and cant think of the name of the blocks. but it works great.
just thought ya'll might want to try this out.
i'll get the name of the blocks tomorrow.
later guys.

Could it be Bed a Beast? I use it for my pacman frog.

The blocks are eco earth from Zoo Med, Bed-A-Beast Litter from Pet Tech or Forest Bed by T-Rex. The Forest Bed by T-Rex comes in a huge block 12x12x6" for only about $16. I use this stuff for my monitor and tegu. It is more expensive then dirt but it holds a good burrow and when I take them out they aren't covered in mud. Once you get the stuff over 9” in your animals enclosure it virtually never dries out. See the link below bor the big block

This indeed sounds like Bed-a-Beast. I use it on my juvie Rudicollis and Peruvian Monkey Lizards and my daughter uses it for her Cresteds and Viper Boas. It holds humidity well, does allow burrowing, is fairly easy to spot clean, and smells pretty good. One of the other supply companies makes a similar product called Lizard Litter or something like that that comes in bags .
