shenlonco Aug 24, 2004 08:49 AM

I have a yearling rosy boa somtimes it regurgatates it's meal.. are the rosy's noted for this?
I have sand boas and never had this problem?
The rosy boa is keept at 80 to 85 degrees.. hotter on the one side cooler on the other.. could i be feeding it to much? I feed my sand boas 2 times a week the same as the rosy?
THANKS

Are rosies known for this? Heck yes. Not all, but some individuals. Feed once per week only. Too much food can cause it. There are other factors as well.. like too much humidity, or too low of temps, or stress or parasites...

Some rosies just cannot handle feeding more than once a week and really don't have any of the above problems. I wouldn't feed any of the sand boas/rosy boas more than that. In the wild, they do not eat that much (year round anyway), and in captivity they shouldn't be offered so much. Seasonally yes, like in Spring, they'll pig out. But now (Fall) is slow-down time.

My rosies will occasionally go on a barfing spree. This typically happens shortly after I wake them from hibernation. Make sure the humidity isn't too high. I treat mine with flagyl a few times and it stops the cycle. Flagyl is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and it acts as an appetite stimulant.
