>>What the hell does het mean and how do you get a het?
From what I've learned so far het is short for heterozygous. heterozygous means that the animal in question has a recessive gene or trait which is of course opposite to dominaint.

Thanks, Jason
ok make it simple how do you get A HET give me an example
Breeding a normal and an albino gives you normal looking babies, but they carry albino genes, which make the babies het for albino. If you were to breed one of those babies later to an albino leo, their babies would turn out albino. Get it?
n/p
Albino X Albino= All Albino
Albino X Norm= All normal looking, Het for Albino
Albino X Het= Half Albino babies, Half Het babies. (statistical chance, but no guarantee)
Play with the calculator on the site I linked to earlier. There are other possibilities and combinations.

OK, how do you post under Indyherps ( is the "herps" as in reptile or something else? ) and not know what a het is ?
I have been keeping 2 tree frogs and 3 leopard geckos but i havent been keeping up to date with all this stuff.
You're at the right place, hope it all makes sense now. Most of the people who post here know more about these animals than any herpetologist who may have a broad general knowledge but have never owned one.
