Tail loss

make_urself Aug 24, 2004 11:11 AM

Is tail loss a big deal or is it common? Are there any downsides to an animal with a lost tail?

Is it near the tip or the base of the tail? Mine broke the last 2-3 inches of his off several months ago. I have no idea how, but kids will be kids and I guess he fell or something. Anyway, it grew right back, only it was all black with no pattern, and the scalation is a little off. Did you have one happen? Put a little neosporin on it just in case. I think if it is near the base, it is more serious, but I don't know the details. Hope this helps.

No. His tail was blackish in color and thinner in girth so i figured it was either dead bc of skin buildup or had been lost..Im pretty sure now from what Ive been told that its tail loss and was just curious how serious it was. But im not worried anymore.

It is usually caused when they tail whip in a small enclosure. I had my one month old in a 40 or 60 gal I don't know but once i made his larger cage (6 feet long 33 inches wide 2 feet tall he seems to miss the sides when he whips.
Bed time.
