american toad... play dead .. or dead?

shootist Aug 24, 2004 01:18 PM

brought him home yesterday, set up in a simple tank (paper towel bedding, small water dish, small hide spot) and went to get him crickets today. put em in the tank and he wasnt moving. i picked up the paper towels to see if he would move. he just flipped over and laid on his back. i put him back on his feet but he hasnt moved in a few hours. this isnt normal right? i think he has passed...

I've never heard of a toad that plays dead. I also have never owned any american toads. But if he hasn't eaten even one cricket since they have been in there or hasen't moved since food has been inm there, it's doesn't sound good.
