Lizard suggestions anyone?

party_animal Aug 24, 2004 01:59 PM

I've been lurking this webiste for a few weeks, seems like a wicked friendly and informative site. Maybe someone here can help me out with a little "dillema" I've been having.

About two months ago, my dad and I were driving through New Hampshire to buy some fireworks for the 4th (they're illegal here in Lawsachusetts). On our way out he stopped at a yardsale, so I reluctantly got out just to check if they had anything cool. I couldn't believe my luck when I came across a hexagontal aquarium about 20" inches tall, 16 1/2" deep, and each side 9 1/2" inches long for only $25. I grabbed it and brought it home to clean it out and put it in my room. I'm not sure about how many gallons that is, but I do know for sure that it's more than twenty. I plan on buying a lizard to put in it at the Manchester Reptile Expo this October, but I'm not exactly sure what. I've read about geckos (crested geckos particularily), but I like lizards that have more of a prehistoric, "dragonish" look to them, although geckos are wicked cute. Would a MHD fit comfortably in it? Any feedback/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

a MHD wouldn't really be good for that.... and it also depends on if you wan something that gonna crawl all over you, or someting that might bite... I suggest looking into glyinf geckos, beacause one of them would be pretty good in said aquarium (by the way, the aqaurium you mentioned would be around 14 gallons) and they look really kool... and they can glidse like a flying squirel...

I think a single gargoyle gecko may fit in it? And what is an MHD? Will a single Cadelonian gecko fit? And maybe Cresties.

14 gallons? That can't be right, I saw a 20 gallon hex at a pet store the other day and it was a lot smaller than mine. But the flying gecko does look pretty cool, I think I'll look into that species.

MHD= mountain horned dragon.

well, I imagine its harder to convert the measurments of a hex to gallons....... but try it yourself...

A crestie would be cool...they make really good pets and they are fairly easy to keep. I would only keep one tho, because they tend to squabble and then drop their tails (which wont grow back)
