Baby Not Growing

cichlid man Aug 24, 2004 01:59 PM

I have a one year old baby snapping turtle, I caught it last year as a hatchling. He's doing great as far as I know, he eats turtle pellets, goldfish, and crickets. What all should I be feeding him to make him grow? Any other care tips? He's got UV lighting plus I take him outside sometimes. he's about 2 inches long.

keep his tank really clean. I wouldn' feed goldfish, I fed mine reptomin, guppies, minnows, beefheart, lean beef, tadpoles, crayfish, etc.

I'm going to the pond where I got him this weekend, there's also a stream next to it. I'll probably catch him some minnows and crayfish to eat. I might also find him a friend. I the pond where I caught him there were also painted and red eared sliders. Would one of around the same size be ok with him?

I wouldn't find him a friend. He'll probably end up eating his friend sometime. As for the minnows and crayfish be careful because of any contaminants in it. Even though he was WC, he was still only a hatchling. I believe there's some shot to protect against anything, but I'm not familiar with it. I feed mine caught minnows and crayfish too though.
