is this an alanis?

tweakedz Aug 24, 2004 05:09 PM

i was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is an alanis. i bought it from saurian enterprises. i was under the impression that alanis had very yellow to orange markings and this one, along with it's mate, had more of a light yellow to white markings. they are beautifal frogs, but i am not sure if they are alanis or some other morph.

If you bought it from Patrick at Saurian then yes it is most likley an alanis as he has told you, if you are concerned then e-mail him and ask but i don't think he was wrong. good luck

Patrick knows what he is doing, there are different looking ones, just as most other frogs. Some with more yellow than others.

Also check this page:
http://www.saurian.net/htm/mnu_frogspecies.htm

He only has picture of Dendrobates tinctorius
" Inferalanis", and not Dendrobates tinctorius
" Alanis".

You may want to ask him before posting publicly about it also, he is about the best breeder in the US, and will answer any of your questions.

I am confident of my ability to out-think, out-con, or if need be, tire-iron-upside-the-head demonic forces, ghosts and goblins, things that go bump in the night, etc. It’s the notion of something that doesn’t have any desire to talk to me except via anal probe that freaks me out"
