GA. clutch #2 - twins

willstill Aug 24, 2004 09:19 PM

These snakes were hatched from the same egg. Their noses were sticking out together, very photogenically I might add. However, when I popped the top off of the container they sunk back in the egg. As I was trying to tease their noses out of the egg again I appparently spooked the h@!! out of them because they both shot out of the egg at the same time. As you can see from the picture, the fat, wide banded one sucked up all of the yolk, as the egg (lower right) was empty when they skaddadled. The little guy has nothing but a shrivled stalk and a skinny gut. I had some temperature fluctuations in my incubator this year and that is probably where the striping on the skinny one came from, however.....I'm keeping it, raising it, and breeding it...just to make sure. Always keep the special ones that you hatch. Thanks for looking.

WOW That is a cool pattern ! I guess maybe you should mess with your incubator more often ! Those look very nice overall from the bits and pieces you can make out. Is it one more clutch to go yet ? No real Frank the Tank's yet huh ? Good work bro !

Thanks for the kind words. They are all out and look good, fiesty as all he!!. No truly off the wall patterns in this clutch, well except for the semi-striped one. The last clutch just started pipping so maybe we'll see a Frank the Tank like GA yet.

PS - Almost forgot, all of the first clutch GA babies hammered pinkies today. That first feeding attempt is always nerve wracking. Three of the four NJ's are also (F'n finally) eating, but none of the OBKs yet.
