Hello,

My tank has algae in it too and it doesn't hurt the turtles. If the algae is on the rock you can put it in a bucket and put a TINY amount of bleach in it and after that make sure you rinse it. Also, let it dry. Do you have a filter? If you don't you should consider purchasing one from bigalsonline.

I hope this helps

You can also get something that will eat the algae like a fish (don't get mad if the turtle eats it though) or some snails. The snales might work better because you can get more of them and not worry about your turtle eating a few of them. I also agree with the filter thing. My algae growth has been cut back like 80% since I got my XP3. A little algae is good anyway.

Algae isn't really a bad but what it tells you is the bad thing. usually algae grows because of excessive food or poor water conditions. If you have a filter then the algae's growth should be slowed down or stopped even if you don't notice it. Algae only makes your aquarium look ugly but they will also compete with live plants for nutrients so if you have live plants then get rid of the algae.

turtles in the wild will feed off of algae. Just might not look pretty in your tank. don't worry too much ... maybe try to feed less
