Okay now i'm getting worried again

crtoon83 Aug 24, 2004 10:21 PM

I dont know if anyone remmebers but last week when I first got my baby baird ratsnake Jose he regurgitated his first pinky I gave him 3 days after receipt. I just gave him another one today, 5 days later and he did the same thing. I have a large bowl of water in his cage with him, the tank is being kept around 80-82 degrees. I've handled him a few times since then, didnt handled both the bairds last night around 10pm and fed both today about 3pm. The female ate fine again, but the male regurg'd again. Doesnt appear to be geting close to shed or anything....I dunno what to do! help!

Ok,for starters Ive dealt with pukers/constricter,constricter for around 5 years now.The best thing you can do is wait 10 to 14 days without touching, moving, etc and try again. When they regurge it messes there whole digestive system up and it takes awhile before they can handle a meal.Just leave the guy alone with the exception of water changes and things should turn around for you.Putting him in a quite spot,no vibrations, will help with any stress he has.As a first meal you might want to just feed the head.Gross but a small first meal is what he will need.If he keeps that down try feeding again in a week a whole pinky. If he regurges the pinky again wait 10-14 days and go back to heads. It can be frustrating to say the least, but with patience he should be ok...ps you would think a 5 foot baird could handle a small rat.Mine regurged it 4 days later.Im now feeding him rat hoppers with success and will stick with it.

dang...well yea ill chop it off while its still frozen help with that lol...i put him in a 10 gallon tank with a thermal gradient last night hoping that was the only problem (i've been keeping both in the kritter keeper type enclosure with no gradient, around 81 degrees). I feel that was my problem. Also these two guys are on the top hutch of my computer desk...so they get the vibrations from the fan (my computer runs 24/7) and when im typing and such...do you think this could be a part of the problem?
