Never had this happen before so I thought I'd share. Today I fed my yearling cali king. He's accustommed to the feeding routine (I feed frozen/thawed with 18 inch hemostats)and always shows a little excitement. Usuallly nothing is out of the ordinary. However today he actually fixed his eyes on my face and completely ignored the hemostats. This was probably since I dropped the hopper and he lost track of it. The thing that amazed me the most was the fact that he made eye contact and maintained it for several minutes before I corralled him back into his enclosure. He's a small snake and this may seem over-dramatic but it was pretty intense interracting with a snake this way. The feeling I got was one of genuine intelligence and a little snake conversation as if to establish who's the boss after all.
Anyhow the point is that he exhibited some pretty cool behaviour and I hope everyone gets to experience something similar.
