Taming a leopard gecko.

flamer299 Aug 25, 2004 12:54 AM

How do you tame a leopard gecko?

How old does it has to be before you do so?

How many times a week can you do this?

You cant really tame a gecko...

but just to answer your questions.

1) you should get it out for half an hour or longer.

2) You should start holding it after a week you have gotten it so that it can adjust without stress.

3) It doesnt really take long, just ALWAYS take it out for some kind of exercise.

To tame your leo you just gotta be patient. If your leo is very afraid of you or is skittish, put you hand in the cage for a few minutes each day.

After several days or a week(however long it takes for them to start gettin used to you.)You can gently start to pick them up.(not by there tails) Hold them in your hand for 10-15 mins. Be sure the leo cant fall from a high hieght. And after a while you can extend the time your leo is out with you.

Just takes some time and patients.

Good Luck

How old is your leo?

Young leos are naturally much more skiddish and will seemingly overnight become tame once they hit the 4-6 month mark.
I talk like a mad woman to my leos and in the beginning try to corner them off (slowly) so that they walk across my hand. Eventually they will not recognize you as a threat however i have heard of mean adults.

Good luck
