Question about reptarium screen cages...

shortydsm Aug 25, 2004 01:32 AM

I was checking out the screen reptariums and I was wondering if/how you could use a basking heat bulb with it? Wouldn't it melt the screen? I have had heat lamps burn/melt the edge of a glass terrarium before (you know, the black "lining" on the top) so I am concerned about it doing worse to a screen cage?

Also would a screen reptarium be the best bet for a (veiled) chameleon, being placed in a room temperature bedroom with no drafts? I am not sure of the most suitable size to get either, would 38g tall be too little of space?

I did a search for this already, but nothing came up so I apologize for being redundant, if that's the case. Thanks.

i got the 22 gal? one for my jacksons but he isnt that big yet. the 38 should be fine for awhile til he gets bigger. But i currently have my cham in a dresser conversion which is way bigger. does your basking light have a shroud? if so just use a couple of 1x2's to sit it on , keeps it off the screen. and adjust ur basking perch accordingly. are you using any liners for ur reptarium? i have one on the bottom and one for the back. heres a pic of my reptarium: i also have a reptisun 5.0 striplight. i mainly use the reptarium as an outside enclosure now.
