I've been lucky lately. I had a huge Sonoran Gopher get into my mouse room several weeks ago. He had an attitude, that's for sure. I gave him to a friend and then regretted it, for he was gorgeous. Then about a week later a yearling Sonoran Gopher tried to rob me. He is now a part of my snake family and is called Bandit with his cute little mask and all. Then I remembered the beautiful Desert King that had come knocking on my front door about 10 years ago. I let her stay for about a year when I had to let her go. I wanted another like her... but what were the odds. Well, last week another Desert beauty came to my front door, but she didn't knock this time. She just came right on in and made herself at home for a while. I know this because my little dog had alerted me a few times that she was in my livening room, I just couldn't see her at first and figured it was an escaped mouse. Finally, upon investigating yet another alert from my dog, the beam of my flash light caught her gliding next to the floor board... and she is now mine. After exploring her new enclosure I offered her a large pink that she took right away and then she went into hiding to shed. I'm so happy to have another Desert King come to me this way. I'm just worried that with all these snakes coming to visit that I might get a rattle snake in here some day. Just had to share and also to ask if her being 21 inches would make her a yearling or there abouts. Sorry this was so long.
