I went to look over my geckos earlier and while most of them seemed fine, I got down to the females I hatched out last year. I was greeted with a bloody papertowel, a strange stool and a dropped tail.
I don't know why or how the gecko dropped her tail. But the entire thing was just lying in the corner. She seems okay now. I'm going to put some antibiotic ointment on the stub.
Thing is there's no other geckos with her. She has a food dish, water dish and hide. Papertowel for bedding. The stool looked like she tried scarfing down too many mealies at once because there's still alot of shell. The urate was a pretty goodsize too. I'm having trouble believeing that it came form that gecko.
Anyone else have a situation like this? Or an instance where a strange bowel movement just causes the gecko to drop its tail? I've never heard of anything like this on the forum or seen anything similar.
