Just would like to know the name and age of your pet. When you first got your pet, and why you got them. I'll go first.

I got Ares, mali uromastyx, 2 1/2 or 3 yrs old in November 2002. My brother worked at Petsmart and he got one so I also got one. Orion, saharan uromastyx, year and a half, from Douglas Dix. Hades, bearded dragon, year old, Kalypso, leopard gecko, 3 years old.

Sydney, beardie, 3 years old, also fell in love with her, Stimpy, female mali, 8 months old, had for 4, deceased, felt sorry for her bc she had no tail. I only covered the animals I own. Otherwise I'd be here awhile. But here is a list of the other animals in my house:

My brother owns the following: Apollo, same age as Ares, Mali Uro.
Tokaye gecko named Sid Vicious who is about 2 yrs old.
Bearded Dragon named Shanaqua then renamed Draco, she's about 3-4 years old. And a tarantula Named Peter Parker.

We have 1 zebra finch named Beeps, we used to have 5, 3 boys and 2 girls, (2 of the boys were brothers to one of the girls, but then the females went on killing streaks and decided to kill off the males in the herd).

1 amazon red head named Pancho 8 years old
1 african gray named Keyar (both parrots) roughly 5 years old, may be older.
and a dog named Cheeka who is about 13 years old.

Arthur - female Geyri - age unknown (young adult) - had been planning on getting a mali from Doug Dix but she ended up in my lap locally.

Joe - male Geyri - age guessed by Doug Dix: 4 years - purchased at a reptile show in Hillsboro, OR.

Tank and Turtle - male and female (?) Malis - reportedly about 2-1/2 to 3 years old - go them through a friend who does reptile rescue - a woman was going to school and looking to relocate her Malis.

Soon will be acquiring another male Mali as an adoptee - Spike (adult, age unknown).

Also have two green Anoles, two African Dwarf Frogs, two cats, a betta fish, numerous other tropical fish, and one big fat snail.

This is nice. Now everyone is getting to know one another. I think that when I get my new female Saharan that when she and Orion (my male) mate I'm going to name the babies Pete, Burg and Sharon (after 2 guys a girl and a pizza place cast *that show is awesome*)

-ryan- Aug 28, 2004 10:08 PM

What ever happened to that show? I remember it was on when I was younger, but I haven't seen even repeats of it in a LONG time (4 years?). That show was so funny. Didn't they do away with the pizza place towards the end and just call it "two guys and a girl"?

jeune18 Aug 28, 2004 11:47 PM

4 years is not a long time...i have been out of high school for 6 and it just seems like yesterday
i think by the end of that show it's title was shortened

it just feels like a long time ago I guess. I think maybe it's that it didn't play as big of a role in my life as, say, high school.

jeune18 Aug 29, 2004 12:17 PM

eh, high school did not play that big of a role in my life. lizards have played a MUCH bigger role and i must say that reptiles make much better company

Well see I just got out of HS less then 3 months ago (may 28 graduation date).

But my reptiles have played a much higher role in my life then tv shows.

Here's some stats on 2 guys and a girl
First Aired March 1998
Last Aired May 2001
Cancel/Ended in 2001

So I guess in 2000 they chopped off and a pizza place title.

Thats a link to a site that can tell you mainly everything you need to know about that show.

http://www.tvtome.com you can find basically anything about any show you've ever seen.

triad Aug 29, 2004 03:16 PM

Yes, they did do away with 2 guys a girl and a pizza place and renamed it 2 guys and a girl. They got rid of the pizza place after like the 3rd season when Burg graduated med school I think.

If you get it its on WE (womens entertainment channel) and they show it I think at 2 pm central standard time.

Okay, lets see...

My mali uro is named Sam, because of a couple of reasons. For one, when I first got her, she was in such bad condition I couldn't tell if she was a boy or a girl (I call her a girl, but she's looking more and more like a boy everyday...besides sexually, I don't think it really matters much for lizards anyways). I also wanted to name her something that started with an S because we sort of have this streak going...you'll see what I mean in a minute. Oh, and I got her because my dad saw her at one of his friend's houses, and my dad doesn't know much about reptiles, but he knew enough that keeping an adult uro in a 10 gallon tank with nothing but old food, feces, and a heat rock, is not good. I went and got her and sort of went through a crash course of uro owning myself (I knew the basics, but I didn't know the little stuff that makes a big difference, like the fact that they need good hiding spaces). We're not certain how old she is, but the guy that had her before says he believes her to be between 6-8 years old...maybe older...I got her the day before christmas eve last year, so it was a great christmas since she pulled through so well.

My bearded dragon is named Sydney, basically because I thought it was a cool name for an australian lizard, and I didn't realize how many other people use it. He's about 2.5 years old or so... I got him almost two years ago as my first lizard. I didn't choose a good place to get him from, and he's had (still is having) problems with parasites...the vet thinks he's just much more susceptible to certain parasites (pinworms mostly)...it didn't help that I let him brumate last year without realizing that he still had parasites...that just made it worse. I think that's basically his story.

I also have a lab/english setter mix, and her name is Shelby. I got the name from my grandma's old neibors who had a golden retriever that was awesome. She's about 10 years old now, and I've had her since she was a little puppy.

Last but not least, my blue point siamese cat, Sara. My dad gave her that name. Before her we had a lilac point siamese that was older than me, and we were devastated when she died (she was like my best friend), and she was named Lyla, so we were originally going to name the new kitten Lilly, but it just didn't seem right. I human name fits her well. She doesn't have a clue she's a cat. She's about 4 years old.

That's about it...I know, it's a lot. I love all of my pets and I love talking about them. I'm not sure, but I think I might name all of my future pets names that start with S, just because I think it's funny how that's worked out so far.

It's nice that everyone here's starting to really get to know each other. It gives the forum a better atmosphere, more like what I'm used to from over at the bearded dragon forum.

triad Aug 31, 2004 09:06 PM

Yeah, see my brother owns/operates a forum that you can basically talk about anything in. And its nice to know everyone who actively posts there and who they are, what interests they have and what they do.

So hopefully this gets us all acquainted with one another.

I like your "S" name idea. It's pretty cool. I have named all of my animals after greek/roman gods and goddesses, and also mythological people.

purduecg Sep 03, 2004 09:12 AM

I have a mali that is approximately 7 years old, I have had him since October of 1998, His name is Archimedes. I have a thing for naming animals after philosophers and intellectuals, and I thought he looked intelligent when I got him. Little did I know he likes to leap off tall surfaces and get caught in spider webs. lol. He is now usually referred to as Archie.

I have multiple unnamed fish. In fact this is the first time in history I have had pets who are not named. They simply have not stood up and names themselves yet.

I recently gave my 3 koi to my sister, who built a 500 gallon koi pond in herr organic food store. They were named Kaptain, Pinky and Diatribe.

I ride a 17.3-18.0 hand Thoroughbred/Draft cross names Opie. I did not name him but it is well suited to his personality.

May they rest in peace - The love of my young life, my horse Max; his adopted brother Tom; Soccerates, the only cat who has ever liked me better than my sister, and thought he was a dog; Snowball, a cat who not only thought he was a dog was BIGGER than many dogs; and others too numerous to mention.

Other "family members" not of the human persuasion:

-Flik and Loki 2 enormous Iguanas
-Minnie, a sulcata tortoise that just keeps growing and getting more opinionated (and if you have never met an opinionated tortoise you are in for the surpise of your life! lol)
-Jasmine, the doddering elderly member of my immediate family. A 9.5 year old 130lb Newfoundland. I will never forget when I came home from college and met her for the first time. THe only things I could say were 1 - "WHY is there a swimming pool in the kitchen? (her water bowl) and 2) I thought that the horses lived OUTSIDE!

The NEWEST member of MY family!....

MOSCA! I recently put a deposit down on an Egyptian Uro with Lindsay Pike. I cannot WAIT until October when "he" will get to come home and meet me.

Whew, and that was the short list of animals in my life. lol.
