where to buy cage furnishings? Craft store?

maclen Aug 25, 2004 03:50 PM

I was at hobby lobby today and was looking at the fake plants, etc. I'm not sure if they are safe for my geckos or not. They seem to be the same that you get at the pet store for 3x the price, but you never can be too careful...so i just wanted to ask if anyone has any precautions or comments on buying fake plants from a craft store?

What kind of gecko? Chances are they're safe as long as the gecko doesnt bite them or can cut itself. Either if I feel suspicious I just ask if I could eat this plant and not die or ask as if you got a kid (people tend to think more when you say its for human use rather than reptiles).

well i need some plants for all of my cages. Which would include my white tree frog, bearded dragons, uromastyx, crested gecko, tokay gecko, pictus gecko and velvet gecko. Well I dont think they will try to eat a Fake plant, but im still concerned that there might just be some kind of allergen or some chemical on the plants that aren't from the pet store. Otherwise what would make the plants at the pet store worth so much more $?

All my fake plants are from craft stores, and they are perfectly safe. All pet store supplies cost more because they want you to think the products are better since they are specially designed for reptiles

as long as you clean it, it will be just as good as reptile-specific ones.... and theres a wider variety at craft stores, too........ and yea, as was already said, theat picture of a lizard on the package is what makes the ones at pet-stores worth so much more
