Cornsnake shipping

rptilian Aug 25, 2004 04:29 PM

I posted a similar message in the shipping forum, but really feel it would be best served mentioned here, since the subject party sells cornsnakes over Kingsnake.

Be careful to specify shipping method when buying corns online. I just had an unfortunate experience where I found that the cornsnake I had purchased had been shipped USPS SECOND DAY! He did arrive, but in poor condition. I should have questioned when I thought I was getting a great deal with shipping included. That was my own fault...and once they're on their way, there's not much you can do about it.

I won't post the name, but will answer specific questions via email. Has this happened to anyone else?

In this heat 2cd day shipping is asking for problems. It's why people use next day services.Even then you have to hold your breath.

You're exactly right...I was fortunate that the weather here was not quite as hot as usual, so he did survive. I'm getting him settled in, plenty of water...hopefully he'll be OK.

Isn't USPS illegal for snakes anyway?

My mistake was thinking I got a good deal with the shipping included. I just made assumptions I shouldn't have. Live and learn!

There is no USPS second day. There is Express Mail which is overnight to most places near a major airport. The next option is Priority Mail which is 2 to 3 days to nearly anywhere.

It is illegal to ship snakes via USPS.

It may actually be called something other than second day. All I know is that my mail carrier said that it arrived on the day it was supposed do (2 days out). I'll have to take a closer look at the shipping label. May have been the Priority mail then.

I thought it was illegal to ship UPS...the response I got from the seller was that it didn't matter, it was illegal to ship them any way other than airport to airport. He may be confusing legality with company policy.

I think it is illegal to ship UPS too.
I know that is illegal to mail snakes.
