to house Ball Pythons what is the safest way to secure the top.
Mine are the metal kind not the flimsy plastic and screen tops.

I use The complete works of shakespeare (all in one book) to hold down Felix's cage top. For larger snakes/cages a cofee table book might work.

ROFLMAO
The funny thing is that I am currently using The Complete Encyclopedia of Animals of the World, Second Edition to hold the top down. I just thought there might be an easier way.
As the snake grows, do I need to used the entire set of The Encyclopedia Britannica or just selected volumes?

you can get clips for the cage... they hold down the top well... and no amount of pushing from under will make them let go...
