The July/August issue of Natural History Magazine has an article on the Gila and Beaded venomous lizards:

Venomous Lizards of the Desert

Studies of Gila monsters and beaded lizards have uncovered an array of surprising characteristics, from odd fighting rituals, to extreme energy efficiency, to venom useful in treating diabetes. Story by Daniel D. Beck

It is very interesting and thought some of you lizards heads (LOL!) would enjoy it. It discusses how these animals do not really fit the snake or lizard "family," the duration of their fighting rituals, the conservation of their energy and their feeding habits.

OK, now that I got you all excited...Unfortunately, the article is not online, but you may be able to find the issue at your local library or a University library if you are near one. Definitely worth the effort.
