If you purchased it from Tony himself I am sure he would be more than happy to answer your questions if you call him....why get multiple answers from the 99.999% of us who have less experience than Tony....

if you cant get Tony, go to
http://www.chondroweb.com/
they have loads of info on treating this usually with a paste made of plain sugar. sutures usually not necessary.
I would keep trying Tony...he doesnt go far from his collection.

I know in Chameleons if you swab the prolapse with a steriodal creme it will relax the muscle enough for it to retract. Don't know what affect that will have on a Basin but I am guessing it should work for them too.

Good luck,
Matt

Vet would be my first choice, but you have mentioned yours has limited herp experience. I'm not sure about snakes, but the vet I worked for back in the '80's would use sugar to reduce the swelling in dogs that had prolapsed. It worked about 50% of the time. He also had to suture the prolaps once the swelling went down. Again, I'm not sure about reptiles and maybe there are more modern treatments for reducing swelling. Sorry I can't make any other suggestions but maybe if you mention swelling reduction to your vet, he/she may think of something that will work.

Good Luck<

Can you post a picture of the animal so we can see the severity of the prolapse. This might be a great help so you can take the right steps to helping the animal.

The sugar water thing does work for I have used it many of times with imported Chondros. However I tried something else a while back and it worked much better. Its not a long shot, and some of you may think its crazy, but Preperation H works even better. Depending on the severity of the prolapse, it may be way too far long to use any of these methods. If the tissue is very dark and looking dried out or even rotting, the best bet is to take it to a vet. The damage may be long term and require a surgical proceedure to correct the problem. Sometimes it has to be put back in manually and then the cloaca stitched for up to a week. No feedings are to be attempted. I have used the Preperation H on many different species even Monitor lizards and some Northern Emeralds. Works every time with no harm to the animal. I have been keeping reptiles for 21 years now and have used many methods of prolapse techniques. Try the stuff, but be sure its not too late.
Good luck,
Chris

The prolapse was still light pink. Was everted maybe 24 hrs. Thanks guys the sugar water did the trick plus a huge extra smelly bowel movement. I applied a generous amount of sticky sweet water there last night and BOOM tuf actin retractin. Lol sorry. Why is it that Emeralds fecal matter smells five times worse than green trees? Anyways.....ALL BETTER thanks and cheers

" Why is it that Emeralds fecal matter smells five times worse than green trees?"

because they are prettier!

BTW, One thing Tony emphasized to me is that he adheres strictly to a "one feed/one poop" philosophy. He said you will never see one of his emmies with a distended bulge proximal to the cloaca.
