you would need to make sure its a female. then u need to quranteen her, i say bout 2 weeks. others say up to 2 months. then put them togeather, rearange all the decarations in the tank and hope for the best. if they fight sepporate them, and slowly introduce them for mayb 10 min intervoles, then 20, then half hour. then they sould be compadable.
good luck

Just make sure you know that leos do not need to be in groups, and will not be any happier / less happy if they are, its all up to what you want! also make sure you have the space for two leos (about a 20 gallon, lots of hides) the ability to feed and provide care for two leos. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

I would have to say that a ten gallon would work but it would be real cramped. If you can buy a 20 gallon to make both leos comfortable. Most breeders or people who have leos say about ten gallons per gecko.

like i said, a 10 gal is big enough to 2. yeah of course bigger is better, i never said that. but its not like she NEEDS a 20 gal tank. if it were a male and a female, or 2 then YES a 20 gal tank. but for 2 females as long as they get along 10 is big enough

hmmm, i would have a to disagree. Seeing as how you have to have 1 dry hide ( i use a log ), 1 humid hide ( i use a plastic container ), water dish ect... that leaves about around 100 square inches of just free space. In my opinion, i thought my gecko looked cramped, so i think that 2 geckos would be more comfortable in a 20 gallon long tank. Unless you dont have the space for a 20 gallon.

oh man. this is why i stopped posting here. everything is opinion. i never said any thing about my opinion. in my opinion i would give one leo a 55gal tank. ALL I SAID WAS "you only need a 10 gal tank for 2 females." just cause we would all give our leos as much space as we can doesnt mean 2 FEMALES cant be kept in a 10 gal tank.

I agree. Before you decide to house leos together... keep in mind that leopard geckos are solitary animals.

I have 1 male and 2 female leopard geckos that I adore.

hill4803 Aug 26, 2004 07:09 PM

actually leos are not solitary animals. The males usually have several females in a harem that they "keep" in their natural habitat. They fight other males to protect (or take over) the territory or females in that group. That is why you shouldn't put males together. Females will GENERALLY live peacefully together.

From what I understand females tolerate each other, but its not like they enjoy the company of other leopard geckos.

Be careful what you read off the web...I generally don't lend much weight to what is written (especially if it is on a free site or if there are several grammatical errors in the writing). I have kept breeding groups of 3 females (several groups) for about 10 years now and have never had a fight, tail nip, or any indication of a problem. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen, but it hasn't...maybe this is due to having adequate space for the group and keeping them together from a very young age.
