Sliding Glass Doors

D41LYBR34D Aug 26, 2004 03:10 AM

Does anyone out there know of a cheap easy way to set up sliding glass doors on a vivarium. I guess it would need to be some sort of track mounting, but I don't know where to find some. Any suggestions? Thanks

Provided your door panels will be about 2' square or less the plastic glass tracks will work. I have used it for larger doors and am not sure it was the best idea.

Rockler.com has a nice brown plastic track as well as a real wood track.

If you have a Do It Best Hardware in your area you can ask them to order the Knap & Vogt product on their website if they don't have it on their store shelves. I believe they have a policy of not charging shipping for their website products.

A word of warning, though. The K&P product is listed as "tan". It is actually orange.

Just wanted to add that you can buy the track from Home Depot as well. I actually work in the hardware department at Home Depot and deal with the stuff all the time. It is sold in a pack with 2 6-foot sections. Stanley makes it (comes in black and yellow packaging). Its white and only plastic, but it does the job if your not looking for anything too fancy. I suppose it would be simple to paint over. It can take up to 1/4" glass panels.
