Okay, I know this is the umpteenth question about tort growth rates and that all torts grow at different rates, but I just want some reassurance.

Chelsea will be a year old in October. She only weighs 80 grams and has more or less weighed the same for several months. Now, she IS elongating and has new shell growth all around the edges of her carapace (and plastron).

Then again, I am comparing her to the growth rate of our 3-year-old redfoot...who we, ahem, handfed for most of her hatchling-hood. HER growth rate was higher, which is to be expected.

Now with Chelsea, I make sure she gets "started" eating and then leave her alone. She gets calcium/D3 and vitamin supplements.

The vet DOES says she is healthy, and for those in the VA/DC metro area, I take her to Scott Stahl...so he's really reputable.

Well, I'd appreciate any feedback.

thanks,
Stephanie
