Anyone used Lizard Maker to start baby corns?

rptilian Aug 26, 2004 09:19 AM

Has anyone ever used Lizard Maker to scent pinks for starting hatchling cornsnakes? Results? If it works, it would be simpler than getting anoles to start them. I've got just a couple that are don't want to feed...I'd rather try scenting before I go to assist feeding.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I haven't tried the lizard maker yet, but I did try the mouse maker on a pink to get a non-feeder going. It worked the first time. I don't know if it made the mouse more mousy or what, but the little guy had been refusing pinks for about a month and I had tried everything I could think of (live, brained, tuna water, gutted, washed, etc...) with the mouse maker the guy took a f/t pink within about 15 minutes of being in the feeding container.

I've never had much success with the Lizard Maker products. To me, it has always been far easier to get the hardest ones to eat using lizard skin. It's tough on the Anoles, to be sure, but the little corns love their pinks wrapped in anole skins, when they won't take anything else at all!

Not a lot in the way of ringing endorsements! I may try and find live anoles, or begin with assist feeding mouse tails.

Thanks for the responses.

If you have easy access to skinks you'll probably have better luck, but I have found lizard maker to be useful too. I did get a corn to eat pinks with it and a co-worker finds the only way to get his adult ground boa to take mice is to use lizard maker on the mice.
