water spills

justinmatthew Aug 26, 2004 09:36 AM

My bp's constantly spill their water bowls. How doe each of you handle this? I know how important it is to keep the substrate dry. Should I just leave it to dry, or should I remove the wet aspen and replace it with new? Thank you in advance.

I use velcro on the bottom of the water bowl and tank. 1 or 2 strips will hold it in place. The only problem with this is that after cleaning the bowl and cage, the adhesive backing may break down requiring the velcro to be replaced.

I was having this same problem, so I bought heavier water bowls. I ended up buying Pyrex bowls and they have been great. They are great bowls, and they were not that expensive (which is exactly what I was looking for). They also come in several different sizes for smaller snakes and larger snakes. I bought them at Walmart in case you were wondering. Good luck.

My local reptile store taught me this trick. I use Sterilite tubs. A 16 oz. deli cup placed in a 4" styrene (sprinkler pipe?). The snakes push it around but it never spills. Makes water changes real easy and replacement is not costly.
Just a suggestion.
