2 males together

maclen Aug 26, 2004 11:39 AM

i have had my 2 cresteds together for a while and i recently noticed they are both male. I bought them maybe 6 -8 months ago and they were about 1 month old. I havent noticed any aggressive behavior, but sometimes I do hear one running around the tank at night, but when i check up on them, they are both sitting there calm and far away. they even sometimes sleep together. do i need to seperate them? or would it be okay to give them a chance getting along? any positives and negatives attached with either choice? thanks

I wonder whether the fact that there are no females present might have anything to do with the relative peacefulness in your enclosure. I once had 3 juvies together, and one (which later proved itself a male) chewed the tail-tips off the other 2 (1 male and 1 female). But I have never housed 2 obvious males together. I would just keep an ear open for trouble, I guess, or separate them now and sleep soundly.

ive heard a few times hat growing up together is the reason that some males won't fight, because it's established who is "dominant", a hierarchy devolopes, and they know not to mess with each-other, so they don't
