How much would a 18lb female sulcatta typically cost me? Thanks in advance,
John

Usually males are the only ones available at this size which usually sell for $500 or less at the herp shows. I'm also assuming they would want more for a large female. I guess it would depend on the seller. If she was a pet that just got too big, you may be able to get yourself a bargain. Worth is always in the eye of the beholder.

I was at a show in clevend ohio and they had a 15 pound female for $350, said he would take $300, she looked perfact, should of bought her, but i would say on the average anywhere from $600-800 is what i usually see them.

15 pounds only and they're telling you the sex. Wow I ought
to start selling "female" sulcatas.

No offense intended...

How many sulcatas of that size or larger have you seen other than your's? Up close and in person, not pictures on the internet.

a few years ago at a show out of state (none in NC shows allowed)
they had a few for sale in tubs on the ground also. That's where
I got this idea for a pen - I didn't have Teddy yet but rememberd
it from this pic. I saw a few more at some other shows - then I
got bored going to shows and stopped. One was in a petting zoo
in Georgia's show in Atlanta - I thought he was huge at the time
(was like 65 #) I practically petted a hole into his shell!
The pet shop here - the lady had a 25 # female she said - she was
selling it but changed her mind. They have lots of torts pass
through there but I haven't gone there in a year or so because
I can't stand the big redfoots coming over and wanting attention
and not taking them home with me. I think this place has more
animals dumped because of the military possibly also.
I think personally I judge them by their gulars to the most
extent. Other than that I think it's guessing till they fan.
The concave thing doesn't seem to be a certainty and tail size
is something that seems inconsistant. I don't get involved in
breeding and don't want to, I just think sexing a very young
or small animal is a guess at best.

At that size you could easily still get a male that
hasn't shown yet. The shell shape doesn't tell all,
as I know some that look just like girls and are not.
18 pounds is still small, and foolable.
