I tried introducing my male leo, Gizmo, with my female leo, Esther, in a tank that I use for transporting them to the vet. Esther is pregnant with possibly fertile eggs, and I was told by a breeder to keep her with my male leo for a day or two to get her interested in laying the eggs. First Esther just laid there in the tank and Gizmo seemed more interested in getting out and literally walked over her and she didn’t even move. Then he seemed to notice her and walked right up to her and kept licking her and she licked him a few times too. This is what kind of scared me... his tail started flicking or rattling like it does when leos are about to eat an insect. He did this twice and Esther just sat there staring and licking at him. I’m afraid because Esther, as of a week ago, weighed 35 grams (she doesn’t weigh much because she was impacted with sand when I rescued her from Petco) and Gizmo, as of a month ago, weighed 54 grams. He’s so much bigger than she is that he could hurt her if he wanted to. I put them back in their seperate tanks until I find out what I should do. My question is... why did Gizmo flick his tail like that? Any advice in introducing leos would be great. Thanx!
