Keeping Together

tegu2002 Aug 26, 2004 05:20 PM

Today I got a pair of gray banded kingsnakes. Only babies. I thought that you couldn't keep them together because the could eat each other, but the pet shop that we got them from said they would be fine, is this true??? They are seperated at the moment. And by the way, when I breed them, is it neccesary to brumate them or can I skip that out, and when can I breed them???

I just bought a baby greyband pair as well and I was thinking the same thing... pursue this issue and shoot me an email when you get a chance. I keep more than this pair, but they are all adults, and was curious about the babies. I am fairly new to alterna and have not yet hatched any of my own. Thanks! -will

Congrats on the new alterna. You will love them. You can keep them together but it is a pain to feed them together and it is just easier to keep them seperate. In a couple of years you can put the female in with the male and maybe you will get a response. If not then try it again the next year. Brumating is the way to go. I have bred them with and without brumation and had the best luck with brumation. Sexual maturity tends to be 2 years for males and 3 years for females(give or take).

Good luck and let us know how it turns out. My e m is rickyjgreen@aol.com. If I can help, let me know.

Later
Rick
