no substrate at all??

is there anything a matter with having no substrate at all? my first two cresteds i used paper towels with for a while, but now i remember why i stopped. the roaches keep getting underneath the towels....so is there anyone who knows why or why not to use no substrate? thanks

The only reasons I can see not to is you would have to clean the terrarium more often, and it can be a bit harder to keep the humidity proper(live plants could solve that). I personally like paper towel and news paper, but it does get annoying when they climb under the paper, maybe you can find a way to stick it down. Tape probably wouldn't be a good idea incase it got stuck to the lizards but i'm sure there is something out there that could help.
