Diet questions

herpin1579 Aug 26, 2004 08:10 PM

Hello everyone,

My bearded dragon has begun to grow quite large and feeding them crickets is getting exspensive. They all readily expect t-rex juvi/growth dry pellets. Is it possible to feed them an entire pellet diet w/o any problems. I will still be offering crix, mealies, and waxies occasionally.

Mike

P.S. Heres a pic of one of my yellow pastel x red sandfire males from foxfire dragons

My full grown adult dragons eat close to all pellet-vegetable diets, with prey offered only as treats, and they are happy, healthy dragons. I personally have something very close to a cricket phobia, so this makes me happy too . I do offer my still-growing dragons live prey more often.

Best,
Michele

I'm a crickaphobic too. A friend of mine made this pic for me.

A cricket jumped on me once while I was shaking them out of a bag. I jumped up, screamed and knocked a 3 foot framed painting off the wall.
He sent me this cricket handling gear..LOL!!

I need a suit like that!
Crickets...shiver...

It's weird. I can handle spiders, giant roaches, any kind of 'worm' and many other multilegged (and no legged!) critters, but crickets just creep me out.

Best,
Michele

I love that picture, LMAO!!! I have a real bug phobia. I don't mind the worms, but crickets & roaches....scare the heck outta me. I lived in a apartment building when I was 3 years old that was beyond gross..flying roaches and all. But I also can't have anything, birds included, flying at my head. Creapes me out.

When your dragon gets older, he/she will probably want to eat more greens than crickets.

I have already ordered smaller crickets than I needed, plus my regular sized ones to save on the shipping costs. By the time I am out of the regular size, the smaller ones have grown to the larger size.

Maybe you could save some money by breeding your own. I've heard that they aren't hard to breed.
