There are plenty of posts below talking about crocs and the weapons they carry.

if your looking at them thinking oh i want a cute little tame lizard forget it. Think of them as a huge lizard with sharp teeth. Do not think of them as the tiny babies they are right now it won't last long.

And again check the posts below.

Do a bit of reading through the posts below before you get into croc monitors, and have a good look at this post: http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=554775,554895. Crocs get big fast, and no matter how experienced you are or how "tame" your animal is, stuff happens. With large monitors like crocs, what *can* happen can very easily be more than you had time for.

I think most people would agree that crocs are not "level one" monitors. There are plenty of smart and experienced folks who decide against the housing, feed and maintenance outlays that a big monitor involves, or just don't want the risks. There's nothing at all wrong with ackies, might be a lot better to start there.

This store wouldn't happen to be DnJ reptiles would it?

so sad that a pet store would sucker some new monitor keeper (or "experienced" keeper) into believing that Crocs will be a tame, easy monitor just through handling.

not surprising, just sad.

there are few worse choices for a new keeper...

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

That jimmy had them at daytona. While someone was handling one of them it gave them a good bite. So again don't use the word tame cause you wont be kissing that monitor anytime soon.

one can only use the information given...

the nature of your question, the phrasing, the "taming of a croc" inquiry, the "croc vs. ackies" conundrum, these are not really questions of an "experienced" keeper, sorry.

your experience aside, what about the other hundred newbie keepers that are tempted by "tame and cuddly" croc monitors?

croc monitors are unbelievably beautiful and intriguing lizards, very few compare, but they are like spiderman, ya know...

with great power comes great responsibility : )
