My Tegu is about 28" now, I feed it as many large dusted crix it wants every 2 or 3 days and 2 frozen thawed fuzzies on the days its not having crix. I've gone to 3 fuzzies now but he looks at me like "c-mon, give me some more". So whats the deal, do I give him as much as he wants or limit the amount of mice. I also feed him canned chicken or turkey about once a week also. He doesn't really like fruit just yet, I try though.

Feed away!! I let mine eat till they are full as long as yours gets out and walks around he should not get overweight. So my advise feed away. Good luck

What type of tegu?
at 28" he should be on large mice or even jumbos (one a day). You can alternate with rodents and other food. crix are like popcorn. he will have to eat a couple hundred to fill up. Make sure your canned poultry is low fat (93% fat free). you can also try eggs or if you like feeding poultry give him peeps. try roaches and silkies too.

Its a B&W teg (argentine). I was considering feeding the larges. I have many, thats what I feed my snakes. I was just kinda following the rule with other lizards I've had by not feeding anything thats bigger than the width of their head. The walking around he does in the house hardly seems like exercise, this thing is gonna need a treadmill it seems. Thanx for the advice guys. I'll keep reading the forum here.
