Overfeeding

arlalane Aug 27, 2004 01:53 AM

I'm worried about overfeeding my FBTs. I've seen so many people say that they only feed their toads 2-3 crickets once or twice a week. And mine happily consume 4-6 crickets each every other day. I have fed them this amount for the past couple of months since they've become full grown, and they seem to still be hungry, but I'm afriad to give them too much. Has anyone ever actually killed one by feeding it too much, Or is it just a theory? Also.. every now and then my local shop runs out of crickets for a week or so. Is there anything I have at home that is safe for them to eat? They attack anything I put in front of them (like guppies held by tweezers)but those are for my oscars =) . Thanks in advance, Heather

I have never had a problem with over feeding my FBTs. They pace them selfs but if your frogs are still hungry feed them. BUt if they start getting bloated slow it down to a couple crickets a week. You dont need to have a feeding times set up. I some time don't feed them for a week and then some time i feed them 2 a week. But there never hungry or bloated they let there crickets last. And fedding a frog to much. I think some one just said that so they didn't have to go get there childs frog more food.

Hope that helps.
