23 Het Albino Guyanans ..... 1 Albino

crlt845 Aug 27, 2004 07:53 AM

Not exactly what I was hoping for. How did this happen?
Will, thinking (for years) that the Guyanan that I threw in with my breeding Albinos was a female (not!) I thought knocking her up at the same time would set me up with a Het Albino Guyanan project as well as a litter of 100% Albinos(Sharp)
Instead she turned out to be a he. And worse his sperm being the freshest won the race.
The result 1 Albino and 23 Het Albino Guyanans
At any rate these Hets will produce some sweet Guyanan Albinos.
thnx

Did you missex him or did you just assume that it was a female also you did not produce het albino guyanans you produced crosses. Which with the trend going on here the last few days you will probably be CRUCIFIED for the fact that you produced these animals to bigin with and secondly because you did not call them crosses personally I say bravo good luck with them

The ad in the classifieds says they're Het albino Guyanans...

It doesn't say anything about BCI/BCC crosses...

Ruben14 Aug 27, 2004 12:12 PM

SHARP STRAIN ALBINOS ARE COLUMBIAN BCIs AND THY GUYANANS ARE BCC. SO THEY ARE BCI BCC CROSSES. HOPE THIS HELPS AND THE GUY WITH THEM SHOULD MENTION THAT IN HIS AD FOR THE PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW.

Hey Gus, I purchased one of two Guyanan albinos available from a broker I have been dealing with for about 10 yrs. I will send you a few pictures soon and look forward to what you think of this animal, IMHO its as nice as the Suriname animal with more contrast and defined patterns. Regards, Jim Elliott

Here's the story.
Way back I pick up a very sweet, very dark Guyanan that was sold to me as a female. I thought I sexed the snake when I got it but can't really remember. Any way thinking its was a female (it is a very fat male) I threw him into the mix with me pair of Albinos. The result was 23 Het Albinos fathered by a Guyanan, one Albino fathered by an Albino.
This was a case of common compacency.
Should of gotten out that trusty probe set.
At any rate I bet the Albinos that come of this will be flat out killer!

thnx
Tom

We both know that there isn't an albino BCC, the question is whether it was an intentional misrepresentation or a simple oversight...

snakemannick Aug 27, 2004 03:38 PM

imported back in from Suriname in 2001,
We should see true hets for them soon, maybe next summer....

Complacency. Years ago I picked up the Guyanan as a female. Turns out it was a male. He is as fat as a stuck pig. Thinking he was a female I threw him into the mix with my Albinos.
Wish now that I had gotten out that trusty probe set. Or at least looked a little harder at those monster spurs.
OH well.
I bet the Albinos that come from these Hets will be flat ass killer.

PS..............your right about the terinology
thnx

Tom,
A litter can have 2 fathers as Mike from Basically Boas demonstrated. HTH

crlt845 Aug 27, 2004 08:40 PM

This litter difinitely has two fathers.
an Albino....Father of 1
a Guyanan....Father of 23
Don't you just love that break down?
thnx
Tom

craig k. Aug 27, 2004 12:47 PM

Maybe I am missing something, but it would appear to me that the albino fathered the albino babies and the mutts are fathered by the other male. Am I seeing this right or did I miss something?? congrats on the litter anyway

obz Aug 27, 2004 01:35 PM

This litter appears to have 2 sires.
Or at least, it's highly likley judging by the albino.

OBZ

You are exactly right. It was a colossal foul up.
Two dads!
Read my reply two "HOW DID YOU MANAGE THAT?? MORE"
For the break down.

PS.......Wait untill you see what I have in the cooker, you want to see pure kick ass Guyanans, say tuned.
thnx
Tom

tim5580 Aug 27, 2004 02:58 PM

Look all the hets are playing together and they won't let the albino join, he just has to sit there and not crawl with them.

You still havent corrected your self about these het albinos being crosses not pure guyanans im sure you didnt misrepresent them purposely but anyone who dosent know too much about these animals may actually get confused and believe that they are 100% pure guyanans het albino like it has already happend inthis very forum please clarify this

of both Suri and Guyana have cropped up in the last 5 years. Not a shot at anybody. But you gotta wonder what the exporters from these two countries have been up to. Just seems highly unlikely that they'd start showing up with such consistancy once the boa market started booming. I'm starting to think that the gentleman's boas posted above are just as legit as the rest.

We gotta remember that albinos and other simple recessive genes pop in the wild via random hets meeting in the night and having a litter of babies later on that albinos emerge from. So wouldn't it make sense that 'clumps' of these animals are found in short time frames in a relativley small region.?
