hey herpers im just curious what you think of this topic ive always heard the talk of the this story of a nile croc or a saltie battling a lion i think the croc would easly kill the lion if it snached it into the water an death rolled also has anybody ever seen these to fight before on a national geographic show or crocodile hunter or somthin like that. any input would be great

I've watched a lot documentaries, and I've never seen it. But if they kill people, I don't see why they wouldn't pick off a lion or a hyena. It probably just doesn't happen that often.

I saw either a lioness or a older cub fight with a nile croc that was about 10 ft. The lion kept nailing it on the top of the head by the nostrils with its paw. Lions will also brave water ways that contain crocodiles for dead animals such as hippos, etc.
However, IMO I think on land and in the water the croc would have the best chance. Giving the armor of the croc and the strengh of it. One wrong move by the lion and it would be history. All in all though, The lion was built for land, the croc more for water. I think it would also depend on the croc's age too.

I saw a documentarie featuring a lioness entering a shallow portion of a river to approach an animal carcass. A moment later, she disappeared under the water. A croc took her down swiftly.

Another documentary featured several lionesses fending off an adult croc. The lionesses scared it away.

I think, I saw the same documentary Israel saw, featuring the lionesses and the big nile. If I remember right, it was in a film done by Alan Root. And, sorry: I am not able to accept Steve Irwin´s show as a serious ducumentary...
