Ball pythongs living together

My friend is moving and he has a 3 year old ball python and he wants to give it to me. The only way i can take it is if it lives with my ball python i have now which is only 1 year old.
I just wondered would they eat each other because the one is a few years older a a little bigger or would they be ok. (the tank is a 55 gallon if that makes a diffrence)
