Playground sand ok?

riiotgrrl Aug 27, 2004 03:33 PM

Or is it too sharp for collareds? I am worried because i know it tends to impact alot of other animals, but since collareds are from sandy areas i was wondering if it would be ok. Thanks!

Like I said, if you see her getting sand in her mouth, then she may not be used to it. You can always take her out and feed her in a plastic tub or container, until she is able to catch a cricket without trouble.

I've even known a person who takes the back legs off the crickets before she feeds her collareds. To me, I think they enjoy the hunt.

Back to the subject, playsand should not be a problem. Most people wash the sand before putting it in the cage. If your cage is small enough and you have some extra money (a lot), you can put mineral/calci sand in it so the impaction problem won't happen as much or at all.
